A.E headed to Munich, Germany to attend IFAT 2018 — the World’s Leading Trade Fair for Water, Sewage, Waste and Raw Materials Management. From May 14th–18th,  more than 141,000 experts from over 160 countries attended. In total, 3,305 exhibitors from 58 countries presented products and innovations to the booming sewer and environmental industry.

During our stay, we had the opportunity to research the latest industry developments. Our staff also met and networked with a variety of waste water experts — learning from their positive (and occasionally negative) experiences. In return, we shared our own knowledge and experience with industry colleagues.

After the Show…

We then headed north to Gelsenkirchen to visit the IKT (Institute for Underground Infrastructure) testing facilities. IKT is a neutral, independent, non-profit organization that strives to solve practical and operational issues regarding underground sewers, pipe and other conduit engineering (with a primary focus on sewer systems). During our visit, A.E witnessed/discussed various CIPP liner testing methods, material testing and ongoing research projects.

Afterwards, we took a tour of I.S.T. Innovative Sewer Technologies’ headquarter in Bochum. I.S.T is an industry leader: manufacturing sewer rehabilitation products such as UV lining equipment, milling robots, CIPP liner/tophat, spot repair and mobile steamers for the curing of liners. The facility also conducts installation training. While there, we had the privilege of attending one of the spot repair classes.

Overall, A.E’s whirlwind tour of Germany was a great success and we look forward to discovering the latest developments at the next trade show down the line. Auf Wiedersehen!
