Andrews.engineer decided to stay close to home this past July. From the 16th-18th, we exhibited at the ASCE Pipelines 2018 Conference (“Revitalizing Global Underground Utility Infrastructure”) in Toronto. This premier Utility Engineering & Surveying Institute (UESI) technical event was the first UESI international conference to be held in Canada. Its programming consisted of over 180 peer-reviewed papers and panel discussions across 8 technical tracks and 6 focused pre-conference workshops. A.E complimented that program by displaying local expertise and connecting with worldwide leaders in engineering, technology, and educational development. In addition, we met with clients and contractors. Which gave us the opportunity to share inspection strategies for sewer assets with limited access, condition assessment technology advancements, and rehabilitation industry best practices.

During the Pipelines conference, A.E welcomed a trenchless delegation from China organized by the China-U.S Joint Center for Trenchless R&D. Professor Baosong, Ma (from the China University of Geoscience) led the group. The contingent consisted of 15 engineers and managers from 12 different companies and municipalities across China. And while in Toronto, they visited A.E’s office and training facilities. There, we discussed inspection techniques, data management, and rehabilitation design challenges faced by the trenchless industry within North American and Chinese markets. By opening a dialogue with our global colleagues, we hope to create opportunities for future collaboration down the pipe!
